MR SAMUEL MAHAMADU WINS REGIONAL BEST FARMER- 2009
Mr. Samuel Mahamadu is the chairman of the Tunteya Farmers Group based in the village of Nyong Nayili in the Karaga District of the Northern Region. He has been a proud CSLD farmer since 2008 and has benefitted tremendously from technical training provided by CLSD and its partners. In the 2009 cropping season, Sammy cultivated a total of 132 acres of maize, 140 acres of rice, 10 acres of soya bean and 2 acres of yam. In 2009, he was nominated by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to contest for national best farmer which he lost but won the Northern Regional Best Farmer award.
Sammy’s goal is to win the National Best Farmer Award in 2010 or 2011. He hopes to achieve this by increasing acreages under cultivation and adopting enhanced agronomic and cultural practices through the support of CSLD, MiDA and IFDC.
